These instructions walk you through how to stream from a browser on Tastemade's livestream platform. If you want to learn how to set up an experience on Tastemade's livestream platform, follow these instructions. If you prefer to stream from an encoder, follow these instructions. The steps are the same whether you're on mobile or a laptop/desktop computer, except where noted. Regardless, be sure to follow best practices.
1. The default option for livestreams is “Stream from browser”. You can see it under the Settings tab:
2. Select Go Live.
If you don't go live within 15 minutes of the experience start time, we automatically end the event and it can't be recovered.
3. If you haven't already, grant Tastemade access to your microphone and camera on the pop-up. If you previously declined camera and microphone access, you'll have to enable it in your browser's settings.
You're live! However, we don't broadcast the stream to guests until the experience start time. They'll see what you see, in real-time.
On a laptop/desktop computer you can preview the guest view by clicking the three dots in the top right and selecting Guest View, but we recommend you close the tab (and all other tabs) during the actual experience.
Guest View isn't available in the mobile livestream studio for technical reasons, but you can open the Guest View on a computer and do a test stream from mobile to see how it looks. We recommend streaming in landscape orientation on mobile, but you can stream in portrait (with back bars on either side in the player) and switch orientations while streaming.
You can change your microphone & camera from the Settings tab:
4. When you're ready to end your stream, select the End Event button:
If need be, you can pause and resume the stream as many times as you like by using the “Pause Stream” and “Resume Stream” buttons. Guests will see a message that you've paused streaming during this time. After 15 minutes of being paused, we automatically end the experience.
If you stop streaming before the experience start time, we consider the stream a test and you'll see a button for End Test, which will reset the livestream studio:
Guests aren't notified about test streams and the recordings are discarded.
5. Select OK in the pop-up warning you this will end the experience:
The experience is now over, and a recording will be available once it's done processing. It will live at the same link.
