Yes, guests are here to learn, but also to be entertained! So make sure to engage with your guests during your experience. Sometimes the chat will naturally be active, but other times they might need a little push. Try out different things that work for you, but here are some starters:
Location Shout-Outs
At the start of your class, ask your guests to give a shout-out of where they’re tuning in from! This is a fun way to connect--maybe someone is watching from your old stomping grounds, or somewhere you’d really like to go.
Emoji Status System
If you’re teaching a class designed for guests to cook something along with you, encourage them to let you know how they’re doing before moving on to the next phase in the process. Thumbs up means all good! Thumbs down means struggling. Fingers crossed means almost there! Use what feels right for you. That way, you’ll know if you’re good to continue on, or if someone is having an issue that you can help them through.
Social Media
Don’t forget to share your social media handles with the guests! Encourage them to tag you in their finished creations, and to reach out if they have any further questions on this experience.
Storytelling
Don't just teach the hows, share the whys! Why do you prefer a particular method over another? What inspired you? Is this a secret family recipe you've perfected over the years, or one borne of what you had leftover in your fridge one night? Any story you can weave around your subject is another way to create a memorable and engaging experience for your guests.
